We use it to ensure synchronization of Op, Strat and Financial Plans. For our OP plans we (are trying) using it for true top-down, bottom-up planning.
  • Collaboration across enterprise
  • Ease of use
  • Intuitive UI
  • Better scalability!
  • Better integration with Office365
  • Mobile capabilities improved (sizing, etc.)
I find it very adequate for more ‘traditional’ business planning. Easy to use, scales across the company (user count wise), etc.

we use the IBP to condiuct sales and operations planning as well to sustain the stability of the entire supplz chain. In particular the demand sensing functionality provided us with enormous benefits. Another functionality that has been very helpful was the heuristic functionality in demand planning, in particular for the sales planning in emerging markets
  • demand planning
  • integration features with AI apps
Generally IBP is recomandable in complex market environments and dynamic supply chains. In particular when we talk about the resilience of supply chains IBP is a very sophisticated tool. One very practicable example is the demand sensing functionality for sales scenarios in retail due to the fact that in this industry perishable goods are traded.

We work with various businesses clients, and suppliers, and we have issues orchestrating all the requirements for handling our operations, reaching all our business requirements and without exceeding our budget. SAP Integrated Business Planning was a success once we decided to run our organization, allowing us to unify all our data sources on-premise and off-premise in one platform that anyone in our organization can use every day. With this solution, we can make an effective following of the changes in our warehouse in conjunction with the Operations and Sales teams.
  • Unify all data sources in one platform over the cloud and on-premise.
  • Make a success inventory and following changes at real time.
  • One platform that cross Operations, Sales and Support Teams.
  • A clearly user experience is required, all stuff is in some cases unorganised.
  • Difficult tasks for integrated with other systems.
  • Lack of compatibility with third-party software.
Integrate SAP Integrated Business Planning in the daily operation of the core business is easy if the use of SAP HANA Cloud requires to increase in budget and is not possible for all types or sizes of organisations, but if your IT department requires to connect to on-premise data, connect to other data repositories on cloud or off-premise and customize reports for specific businesses cases, these tasks can increase the projected costs and require to adopt other SAP modules that can not be required at all.

The integration with the ERP and the pre-built-in model provide great business value. It drives standardization and provides a good framework to grow the business and the process. It is the second time I have worked for a company that uses the tool and the results are very encouraging regardless of the companies having been in different sectors.
  • ECC interface
  • User friendly
  • Data speed
  • Reporting
  • Screen simplicity
  • Data modeling
Demand planning for short and long-term plans works very well.

I mostly use SAP Integrated Business Planning to build a better relationship with my suppliers and also this helps me to ensure that we have an authentic supply of products and services on a regular basis and during the time of crisis. IBP also helps our team to build a transaction of information about the products, such as our regular demand forecasts and current inventory data. This would help us to work together and improve the efficiency of our supply chain.
  • Helps us to estimate close to accurate demand forecast
  • Helps to minimize the cost and boost the customer demand
  • Helps us to avoid stockouts and excess inventories.
  • The menus and tools bars are little complex to find in the dashboard of the software
  • The automation of the planning process lacks professionalism
  • There is no option available to create custom reports.
As we are a car detailing company and we often experience a seasonal demand, with more business during the warmer months and less business during the colder months but SAP IBP basically helps us to plan for these seasonal demands of the market by creating multiple planning scenarios according to every season.

We use Demand planning and Supply Planning in the IBP/SOP process. Demand Planning for forecasting demand and supply planning for plant balancing for demand/supply. Before it was excelbased feeding eventually APO but now replaced by IBP globally although not fully demand and supply planning.
  • Excelbased in the cloud
  • One repository for data
  • user friendly
  • KPI measurement
  • SOE is a challenge in IBP
  • Monthly buckets only
For large volumes, relatively stable it is a good tool. Also for scenarioplanning demand/supply. For smaller volumes with volatile demand, running in campaigns it is a challenge. Here more SOE is required and not sure IBP is the right tool for this

We use IBP Demand Management and Supply and Response to mainly manage the Consensus Demand and Sales Forecast
  • IBP provides the excel plugins as the main entry point for the users which, our users, are pretty familiar with and there is no special training that is required to be up and running with these templates
  • Better SSO options with Fiori OR IDP
  • Excel Performance especially when IBP plug-ins are running with other spreadsheets

I gave SAP Integrated Business Planning a five because it needs to improve its activity-independent planning and price calculation.

We use IBP for budget planning. ECC data is fetched from MRP to IBP and users can play around the figures. But since the data is from ERP, there are difficulties in having scenarios etc.
  • Data integration
  • Reporting
  • Authorization
  • simulation
  • know-how
  • best practices
ease of use, excel GUI, single platform of data.

SAP IBP is used to modernise and standardise Demand and Supply planning in a supply network comprising of many production plants and distribution centres in Western Europe, Northern Europe, US and Canada. Each node in the network having previously used clunky, disintegrated planning tools; often based on spreadsheets with no common master data.
Now, supply chain planning is standardised across the group with S&OP cycle time reduced by over 80%, forecast accuracy improved by 20% and less stressed planners!
  • Rapid to spin up a potential solution
  • Elegant visualisation of massive datasets
  • Rapid process metric generation
  • Harmonisation of planning results
  • More user-led help documentation on help.sap.com
  • More user friendly training material in learning hub
  • Easier to follow use cases in the in-app help
It is perfect for any FMCG or consumer goods business with multiple nodes in a supply network.
It requires rigorous data governance.
It is less appropriate for complex financialization of planning results.
